Lightroom 3.6 To 4.4 Update To TheIts changes are significant and will have a direct effect on your editing workflow.As with the introduction of previous process versions, Lightroom, by default honors the current (in this case PV2010) process version of your existing images. Simply put, PV2012 is of huge consequence for every serious Lightroom user. While the rendering performance sees some minor changes, PV2012 stands out by introducing a redesigned and recalibrated set of the Develop module's Basic panel tools, along with more localized editing options. The Lightroom engineers make periodic tweaks to its components to provide better image rendering and/or enable new editing functionality. But the appearence of your image will change, often significantly. When updating PV2010 (or earlier) images which already contain manual Basic panel adjustments, slider values will be carried over or 'transposed' to the appropriate PV2012 settings. ![]() If your pictures are fine the way they are, leave them alone. There is no need to update your old images unless you want to take advantage of the new process tools. I tested the beta on some old images and the Basic panel adjusts to represent the earlier tool set when the version is set to 2003 or 2010. Process versions are still supported back to 2003. In fact Adobe has gone to considerable effort to not disrupt your workflow. As someone else mentioned in another comment yes adobe LR is a "sandbox" program to some extent and is limited in creativity expression and you will have to use PS for.You are mistaken. ![]()
